Experts: An “expert” is just a reputable person who knows more about a subject than you do.

How to find experts just on the odd chance you haven’t quite, not really, not exactly done that yet. (short presentation)

Note: Put the expert in bold in your bibliography

Criteria for your paper

• Chronological is okay
• Don’t just glom cards one after the other, synthesize the information
• What theme or themes run through their life? (e.g., “sarcasm is an important component of world famous novelist Scot Key’s life”) And explain why.
• What obstacles did they overcome and how did they do this?
• What are the two or three things one should really remember about this person
• What are some little known facts you wouldn’t know from a 3^rd grade biography of this person?
• Remember the 250 word abstract for the presentation…put it in the paper as conclusion.

Next Wednesday: rough draft due: entire paper, bibliography not due until Final

Monday Fortnight: We’ll get edited rough draft back to you (but it’s Seminar so little disucssion time)

Wednesday Fortnight: Final version due back, publication-ready with bibliography

Following Monday/Tuesday (January 23/24): “Mind meetings begin” Remember 10 questions, your abstract/overview, etc. Teachers will put out a schedule for these sessions well in advance.
