A Room 114 Production

 

Showtimes:                    All Day, Thursday, May 17th

 

Dramatis Personae:      8th Grade Room 114 Literature Students

 

The Rules:

 

·        Perform a 3-5 minute long scene or scene segment from Macbeth

·        Scenes must be unique for a particular class (i.e., no two groups in a class period can do the same scene)

·        Groups of up to four may participate together

·        Costumes must be worn

·        Props must be used

·        Lines must be ALMOST memorized:  scripts can be hand-held during performance, but must only be referred to sparingly (you’re graded on this aspect of the performance)

·        Performances will be videotaped and shown to future classes

·        Alternative media (film, audiotape) may be submitted in lieu of a theatrical performance

 

 

 

The Grading:

 

·        40%          Preparation (Lines known, props prepared, costumes worn)

·        40%          Dramatics (Performed with feeling, dramatic flair and pizazz)

·        20%          Participation (Each player needs sufficient lines to show their contribution)

 

 

Note:             This assignment replaces the typical long series of vocabulary exercises one associates with Shakespeare.  Take advantage of this alternative by throwing yourself into your production.
