A Room 114 Production

Showtimes:                    All Day, Monday, December 17th

Dramatis Personae:      8th Grade Room 114 Literature Students

The Rules:

·        Perform a 3-5 minute long scene or scene segment from To Kill A Mockingbird

·        Scenes must be unique for a particular class (i.e., no two groups in a class period can do the same scene)

·        Groups of up to four may participate together

·        Costumes must be worn

·        Props must be used

·        Lines must be memorized (you’re graded on this aspect of the performance)

·        Performances will be videotaped and shown to future classes

·        Alternative media (film, audiotape) may be submitted in lieu of a theatrical performance

The Grading:

·        40%          Preparation (Lines known, props prepared, costumes worn)

·        40%          Dramatics (Performed with feeling, dramatic flair and pizzazz)

·        20%          Participation (Each player needs sufficient lines to show their contribution)

Note:             This assignment replaces the Final Exam one normally associates with reading classic books in a Literature class.  Take advantage of this alternative by throwing yourself into your production.  Those not throwing themselves thusly will be taking the Final Exam instead.

Note,

The Second:   Study of scenes will require copies of the book, or photocopies of the individual scene selected.  It will also require practice time outside of class to be truly effective.

This page is linked at our class webpage.  Refer to it early and often.  Or take the Final Exam.

Enjoy!
